Why Should I?

Among the urban youth, raising the index finger with the ink spot is quickly catching up as the latest fad.. Without any knowledge about the politics, politicians, their manifestos, policies, background, track record we exercise our franchise.. Being a techie or a successful business man or a film star or spouse of a slain leader or endorsements from popular celebrities is not the reason enough for someone to claim for our precious vote. The need of the hour is not keeping on giving mandate to the same bunch of worthless politicians to relax for another five year term at parliament and enjoy the benefits of power. We need to cleanse the system. For that casting vote is not the first step… it’s the last step. The first step is gain awareness about the political system, step into it and initiate a cleansing drive. A vote will only be meaningful if one can give the nod for the right candidate. Without even a single candidate who deserves our vote, what is the point of exercising it? First let us have deserving candidates standing elections. Until you have one candidate in your constituency who worth your vote, there is no point. I haven’t come across any so far… How many of us have the willingness to sacrifice our family lives, risk our careers, and spare the life time to enter politics? … Talking “secularism” is not reason enough for someone to gain mandate and indulge in filling his coffers with wealth amassed through corruption. Is there any leader in any political party who has guts to stand up and talk about wrong doings from the political party he belongs? Are all political parties are blemish-less and corruption free, so that we never hear any accusation from their leaders and cadres on their own party. … A point to ponder…
